In a powerful display of friendship and solidarity between the United Kingdom and Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky was welcomed to Windsor Castle by His Majesty The King yesterday, receiving full ceremonial honours from the Grenadier Guards.
The Ukrainian President arrived to the stirring sound of the Band of the Grenadier Guards, formed up in the historic Quadrangle of Windsor Castle. The stately procession was marked by precision, tradition, and deep mutual respect — emblematic of the enduring bond between the two nations.
As President Zelensky took his place beside His Majesty The King, the national anthem of Ukraine resounded through the courtyard, played by the Band in tribute to the visiting Head of State. In a moment of great ceremony, the State Colour of the Grenadier Guards was dipped in salute, one of the highest marks of military honour.
The Guard of Honour, commanded by Major Benedict Tracey, Captain of the Guard and officer of the King’s Company, Grenadier Guards, stood immaculately to attention as the President approached. In a gesture that captured the spirit of diplomatic respect and cultural understanding, Major Tracey addressed President Zelensky in flawless Ukrainian, inviting him to inspect the Guard.
