LABOUR are splashing the cash on 300 new “Asylum Decision Makers” — with taxpayers footing a massive £9.2million salary bill, plus gold-plated pensions worth almost 30% extra.
The cushy new Whitehall roles offer a salary of up to £31,500 each — with an eye-watering 28.97% pension contribution, paid for by you. All to help “clear the backlog” of asylum claims… or as many fear, greenlight them straight through.
Critics last night slammed the move as “a soft-touch signal to people smugglers the world over”.
The Home Office job ad, live now with applications closing May 19, reads more like a wellness retreat flyer than a frontline immigration post — asking would-be civil servants if they are “emotionally resilient”, “empathetic”, and “comfortable working from home.”
One furious insider said: “We should be hiring people to send illegal migrants home not offer them fast-tracked approvals with tea, sympathy, and a Zoom link.”
WOKE MADNESS
In one extraordinary section of the ad, candidates are reassured that “equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of Asylum Operations” — while flexible hours, part-time options, and hybrid home-office working are proudly on offer.
Hopeful applicants are asked:
“Are you inquisitive? Do you enjoy individual learning, formulating arguments, and getting into detail from a wide range of resources?”
“Are you emotionally resilient? Can you remain empathetic whilst dealing with traumatised individuals daily?”
“Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment with high-quality customer service?”
And if that wasn’t enough, new recruits will also be rewarded with a £1,500 bonus after 12 months — rising to £2,500 after two years — just for staying put.
PAYDAY FOR PAPER-PUSHERS
Based on average salaries of around £30,750, the total wage bill for the 300 new staffers clocks in at £9,225,000 a year— before pension perks, bonuses or sick leave.
That’s money critics say should be spent on beefing up border enforcement, not bureaucratic box-ticking.
ASYLUM GOLD RUSH
The Conservative Post previously warned this would happen. As soon as Labour got into power, the floodgates would creak open — and now, here comes the paperwork army ready to wave them in.
The Home Office describes the work as “hugely rewarding”, saying asylum caseworkers will “make life-changing decisions” while “safeguarding the vulnerable and their host communities.”
Yet nowhere in the ad is there any firm emphasis on removals, border protection, or deportations. Just support, interviews, and empathy.

“IT’S A SHOWER!”
A former Tory MP told The Post:
“This government should be sending a message to the world’s people-smuggling gangs: the UK is not a free-for-all. Instead, they’re advertising jobs that look like they’re straight out of the HR manual for the John Lewis café.”
