Let us face the facts—the world is changing faster than you can say ChatGPT!

We are standing at the dawn of an era that will reshape everything—from how we do business, to how we educate our children, to how we heal the sick.

Artificial intelligence is not just the future—it is the present. And unless we in Britain wake up, smell the silicon, and seize this opportunity, we will find ourselves left in the dust while others surge ahead!

Now, where, I ask, is the beating heart of this great technological revolution? Is it Brussels, with its labyrinthine bureaucracy and suffocating regulations? Is it Berlin, where the latest “innovation” is a new way to tax enterprise? No!

It is across the Atlantic!

America—land of the free, home of the brave, and, let’s be honest, the undisputed leader in the west of AI and technology.

It is in the United States that we find OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Meta—companies that are defining the digital age. It is in Silicon Valley that the next great breakthroughs are being forged, where ideas become billion-pound businesses, and where the tech titans of tomorrow are born.

And what, pray, is the EU doing? They are bogging themselves down in red tape—tying the hands of innovators, crushing the spark of enterprise with their Artificial Intelligence Act—a bonkers regulatory straightjacket designed to strangle progress before it even begins!

Now, let’s be clear—Britain is a nation of innovators. From the Industrial Revolution to the World Wide Web, we have always been ahead of the curve. We are the second-largest exporter of services on Earth, with the City of London leading in finance, law, education, health tech, and creative industries. These are sectors that will be utterly transformed by AI, and we cannot afford to be held back by EU bureaucracy.

We are the second-largest exporter of services on Earth…These are sectors that will be utterly transformed by AI, and we cannot afford to be held back by EU bureaucracy.

Instead, we must hitch our wagon to the United States, that mighty engine of capital, innovation, and free enterprise. We must strike a bold and ambitious trade deal with the US, one that unlocks AI investment, tech collaboration, and access to the booming American market.

Because let’s be real—the AI revolution is coming, whether we like it or not. It will disrupt jobs, industries, entire economies. And if we want Britain to have a hope in hell of competing, we must align ourselves with the global leaders of innovation, not the bureaucrats of Brussels!

But let us go even further—because for UK startups, the U.S. isn’t just another market—it’s often the market.

Rightly or wrongly, the typical British startup finds its largest customer base, highest growth potential, and best exit opportunities across the Atlantic. The U.S. provides the scale, capital, and dynamism that supercharge ambitious companies, making it the natural endgame for British entrepreneurs.

And so I say—if we want Britain to be a true hotbed of innovation, we must embrace this reality! Our policies, our investment structures, and our entire business ecosystem must be built for seamless integration with the U.S. market, not restricted by Brussels-style barriers.

This is especially true in AI and deep tech, where the U.S. leads in commercialisation, investment, and regulatory influence. Britain should focus on being the best launchpad and gateway for AI startups looking to scale globally—leveraging our strengths in regulation, finance, and talent, while ensuring seamless entry into the U.S. market.

Instead of isolating ourselves further with Europe, or chasing industries we cannot win, we should double down on making Britain the best place to start, scale, and exit AI and tech ventures—with the U.S. as our natural lead partner.

So let’s embrace the future, forge a great new partnership with the US, and make Britain the AI powerhouse of Europe and beyond!

God save the King, and God bless Britain!
