Watching our Defence Secretary refuse to say yes or no on whether His Majesty’s Government supports the US/Israeli strikes on Iran is nothing short of pathetic. Embarrassing. A national humiliation.
When Canada and Australia have already declared unequivocal support for our allies, this Labour Government stands there like a wet weekend in Blackpool, mumbling into a microphone.
Do we back them or do we not? We the British People are entitled to know. Instead, our Defence Secretary can’t even muster the basic courtesy of a clear answer.
This Labour government has already lost all support and all credibility. If you watched the morning round-table interviews today, you saw precisely what the country saw: a party that can no longer answer simple, direct questions. We are not being governed, we are being manipulated through spin and evasion.
Labour’s Defence Secretary, Healey, confirmed that the British base in Cyprus was targeted by two Iranian missiles. We also know that the base in Bahrain, where British service personnel are stationed, was struck with Iranian munitions. These are not abstract, distant events… British lives, British facilities, British strategic interests are under fire. And what does Keir Starmer do? Essentially nothing.
What’s the bet that Starmer is at this moment taking counsel from his best-mate Lord Hermer and crafting some murky “international legal framework” justification. He will probably call a press conference tomorrow and croak his favourite catchphrase in that monotone Dalek voice: “I’ve been very clear…”
No, you have not. You never are, Keir Starmer. You have avoided clarity since you first set foot in front of a camera.
This government’s response reeks of timidity. Fighting-age men arrive on our shores every day and you welcome them in. Chagossian heroes sail back to their islands, the very lands a former Labour government callously expelled them from, and what does this lot do? They throw lawsuits at them. You are a disgrace.
If you cannot say where Britain stands, in plain English, with no bureaucratic evasions, then you have no business leading this country. Keir Starmer, you need to resign. Not later. Not after a review. Right now. You are a danger to us all.
