Team GB’s snow queens have done it again! Charlotte Bankes and Zoe Atkin stormed to gold medal glory in their respective events, while teenage sensation Mia Brookes bagged a brilliant bronze.
Bankes, 29, was in blistering form as she dominated the snowboard cross World Cup in Beidahu, China – clinching her second gold in two days. She blazed through the quarter-finals and semis, before launching out of the gate in the final and never looking back.
With Australia’s Josie Baff trailing in second and Switzerland’s Sina Siegenthaler in third, Bankes sealed her 23rd career World Cup victory. She has now made the podium in eight of her last 10 World Cup races, winning six of them. Talk about a hot streak!
Meanwhile, across the pond in Aspen, 22-year-old Zoe Atkin was untouchable in the freeski halfpipe, leading from the very first run and scoring a stunning 90.00. China’s Fanghui Li (88.50) and Canada’s Amy Fraser (86.75) couldn’t keep up as Atkin grabbed her second World Cup gold – adding to her silver from Copper Mountain last December.
But the British celebrations didn’t stop there! Teenage talent Mia Brookes, 18, soared to third place in the snowboard slopestyle, claiming her sixth World Cup podium of the season.
Brookes now boasts 10 career World Cup podiums since her debut in January 2023, and she’s not stopping yet. Next up? The World Cup big air event tomorrow on 5 February in Aspen, where the young star will be looking to add more silverware to her collection.
With gold, gold, and bronze in the bag, Britain’s winter sports ladies are well and truly on fire!
