Roll up, roll up, one and all, and welcome to the latest instalment of Britain’s longest-running farce under the Big Top of Blunders.
The sawdust is damp, the animals are pacing their cages, and the clowns are tripping over their own custard pies. Yes, it is Week 64 of Clowning Street, where Keir Starmer and his troupe of bunglers serve up a weekly routine of pratfalls and policy collapses while the audience (that’s us!) are forced to foot the bill.
The headline act this week was a tale of two leaders. At Chequers, Donald Trump roared like a fire-breathing showman, while Starmer fumbled and flopped, resembling a drenched circus clown frozen in the spotlight. Trump commanded the stage with authority, while Starmer shrank into the scenery and reached for his usual props of pretence. He mouthed platitudes about free speech, even claimed Christian credentials to impress his guest… but the British public know better. In 2021 he told us plainly, “I am not of faith. I don’t believe in God.” The man is a barefaced liar. His performance was not statesmanship. It was slapstick, and the Prime Minister ended as the punchline, exposed as a fraud and looking every inch the fool.
Meanwhile, the Lady Justice routine has turned into a grotesque pantomime. Ben Habib is right: Labour is busy pulling off the blindfold of Lady Justice at Britain’s expense. Fairness and equality before the law are being twisted into a two-tier system where criminals are coddled, protesters are punished, and the clowns in wigs juggle ideology instead of justice.
Back in the scandal tent, Starmer has finally admitted he knew about the Mandelson email probe before his Commons defence. So the man who promised honesty and transparency has been caught red-nosed once again, pretending not to know what he clearly did. Integrity in Labour’s circus? It is as fictional as a fireproof tent.
On the economic tightrope, the troupe are wobbling badly. Inflation is stuck at a 19-month high, the steepest UK stock sell-off since 2004 is under way, wage growth is slumping, and yet Reeves is preparing yet more tax hikes. It is the same tired clown routine every week: squeeze families, punish business, and then act surprised when the tent falls down.
And the welfare circus continues to spin out of control. Labour has presided over a perfect storm of dependency, with 200,000 young men now effectively on the dole for life. A nation once proud to graft has been turned into a benefits big top where work is optional but handouts are guaranteed.
In foreign affairs, the pratfalls keep coming. Labour has been accused of letting China off the hook, with Sir Iain Duncan Smith calling it indefensible. At the same time, Starmer’s much-vaunted France returns plan stumbled embarrassingly at the first hurdle. Instead of a strong ringmaster protecting the arena, we have a bumbling clown dropping the reins.
On the home front, Labour’s obsession with over-regulation is choking Britain. The blanket 20mph speed limit imposed with Plaid in Wales has been proven as nothing short of a disaster, throttling business, commuters, and communities. It is not safety. It is a slow-motion stunt gone horribly wrong.
And let us not forget Labour’s latest identity-obsessed brainstorm: their Islamophobia plan, which lawyers warn will tie police hands and criminalise ordinary speech. Once again, Labour’s circus clowns reach for the megaphone of censorship rather than the scales of justice.
So to recap, in Week 64 under the sagging striped tent we have:
- A Prime Minister humiliated at Chequers while Trump stole the show

The band keeps playing, the clowns keep stumbling, and the audience keeps being forced to pay. This is not a government. It is a travelling circus of incompetence, and the only question left is how much longer Britain will tolerate the farce before the tent comes crashing down.
