Conservative politician Lee Anderson is joining GB News as a programme host and contributor.
Lee is MP for the former mining town of Ashfield, a key Red Wall seat, and was previously a coal miner and Labour councillor before defecting to the Conservatives four years ago.
Known for his down-to-earth approach and fearlessness in speaking his mind, Lee said he was keen to speak up for constituents outside the London bubble. He said:
“GB News is the true voice of the Great British silent majority. I’m joining the people’s channel to ensure their voice is heard.”
Editorial Director Michael Booker said:
“Lee has been a breath of fresh air in Westminster since he was elected, doing something that many politicians are scared to do: talking honestly about what they believe.
“Our viewers and listeners appreciate his common-sense language, something that has been missing from politics for a long time. As the next election will be fought in the Red Wall, Lee’s insights into northern voters will be key.”
Lee is the latest in a string of political hires at GB News as the channel continues to expand politics with several new programmes and appointments to be announced soon.
Recent hires include Head of Politics Christopher Hope, new Sunday presenter Camilla Tominey, and former Cabinet Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg.
The channel announced this week that former First Minister of Northern Ireland, Baroness Arlene Foster, will expand her role as a presenter across the GB News schedule.
Lee’s immediate predecessor as MP for Ashfield is GB News presenter Gloria De Piero, who hosts in-depth political interviews in her Gloria Meets programme on Sundays.
