In a heartwarming gesture, the Duchess of Edinburgh is set to grace CBeebies with a special Bedtime Story in celebration of World Sight Day on Thursday, 10th October.

Her Royal Highness will be reading from Specs For Rex by Yasmeen Ismail, a charming tale about a little lion reluctant to wear his new, bold red glasses to school.

Rex tries to hide them, but soon discovers they bring him more than just clear vision—they earn him a gold star, a new friend, and a newfound confidence.

The Duchess, known for her tireless dedication to the sight-loss community, is a Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). Through her work, she champions the cause of eliminating avoidable blindness worldwide, supporting organisations that bring life-changing sight to those in need.

Tune in for the Duchess’s touching appearance on the 10th October, a moment sure to inspire and highlight the importance of eye health for both children and adults alike.
