And leading the pack this week? None other than Foreign Secretary David Lammy, whose astonishing volte-face on President Donald J. Trump is enough to make your head spin.
Yes, you read that correctly. The very same David Lammy who once labelled Trump a “woman-hating, neo-Nazi sympathising sociopath” is now hailing him as “very, very friendly” and “very warm.”
A remarkable transformation, wouldn’t you say? Perhaps next week he’ll be calling him the greatest statesman of our time and inviting him round for tea and crumpets.
Lammy, who has spent years disparaging the former president with all the vitriol he could muster, has suddenly discovered Trump’s “incredible grace” and “generosity.” And why, you ask? Well, it seems Labour has finally woken up to the fact that they might just need the man they once so gleefully ridiculed. With a trade deal hanging in the balance and the prospect of a cold shoulder from Washington looming large, it appears Labour is desperate to patch things up with Trump.

Of course, the Labour government’s antics don’t stop there. In a bid to woo the incoming US administration, they have reportedly assembled a “mini-Cabinet” of senior ministers tasked with finding ways to butter up the man they once derided. The grand plan? To have Sir Keir Starmer himself toddle off to Washington for a meeting “within the next few weeks.” Good luck with that, Two-Tier Keir.
But let’s be honest here – does anyone actually believe this sudden love-fest will fool Trump? The man is no fool. He loves Britain, yes, but he’s not exactly enamoured with the duplicitous, socialist outfit currently squatting in Downing Street. Trump has made it clear who his real friends in Britain are – patriots like Nigel Farage, Suella Braverman, and Priti Patel, all of whom he’s surrounding himself with as he prepares to reclaim the White House.
Even Labour’s efforts to install the ever-controversial Lord Mandelson as the UK’s ambassador to the US are causing quite the stir. Rumours are swirling that Trump might block the appointment, yet Lammy insists that Mandelson is the “right man for this moment.” Right for whom, exactly, remains to be seen.
And as if Labour’s contortions weren’t enough, in wades Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, with his usual dose of doom and gloom. Warning against “resurgent fascism” and branding Trump’s return as a “perilous moment,” Khan has also taken a swipe at Elon Musk, calling him a “billionaire bully.”
The Labour Government, of course, have swiftly distanced themselves from Khan’s remarks, keen to maintain some semblance of diplomatic decorum apparently. But let’s not pretend Labour can paper over the cracks. Their track record of insulting Trump and his allies is well documented, and no amount of gushing praise from David Lammy is going to erase it.
The bottom line is this: Labour’s flip-flopping isn’t just embarrassing; it’s downright dangerous. How can anyone trust a government that one minute is spitting venom and the next is peddling sweet nothings?
The truth is, Britain needs strong leadership and consistency, not this endless cycle of contradictions. As Trump himself might say: “They should be fired!”
So, as Labour continues its desperate charm offensive, let’s keep our eyes on the ball. Trump knows who his real friends are, and it’s not the flip-flopping, virtue-signalling brigade currently squatting in Number 10.
