Great Britain’s bobsleigh heroes have made history, storming to gold in the four-man bobsleigh at the IBSF World Cup in Winterberg, Germany.
The dream team of Brad Hall, Taylor Lawrence, Arran Gulliver, and Greg Cackett put on a blistering display, clocking a combined time of 1:48.07 over two runs to edge out hosts Germany by just under two-tenths of a second.
This stunning victory is a landmark moment—it’s the first time since 2012 that the German juggernauts have been beaten on their home track in Winterberg, known as one of the toughest courses on the World Cup circuit.
For team captain Hall, this marks his fourth World Cup gold in the four-man event, after racking up three victories in the 2022-23 season.
Hall Hails the Team
Speaking after the race, a member of the Team GB support crew told a German TV station: “This is a massive win for us. Beating the Germans here is no small feat—it’s the stuff of dreams. The lads absolutely smashed it today, and we’ve made Britain proud.”
The victory comes in the third leg of this season’s eight-part World Cup series, setting the stage for an electrifying campaign for Team GB.
The Germans, who have dominated this event for over a decade, were gracious in defeat, but there’s no denying this is a huge blow on their home ice.
With five more events left in the season, Britain’s bobsleigh stars are now firmly in the running for overall glory.
