In a bold move Robert Jenrick has revealed that Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg will be appointed as Chairman of the Conservative Party if he triumphs in the leadership contest against Kemi Badenoch.

Mr Jenrick, a former minister, declared that one of his first acts as party leader would be to install the stalwart Jacob Rees-Mogg—widely admired among Tory grassroots—at the helm of the party’s campaign operations.

Sir Jacob, who lost his seat in the general election, would take control of reforming the party from the ground up.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Mr Jenrick praised Sir Rees-Mogg’s campaigning efforts:

“Jacob has been a tireless campaigner for the grassroots. He understands better than anyone the need for party reform. Together we will empower members and restore the respect that has been so sorely lacking in recent years.”

Jenrick’s plan isn’t just about winning the leadership contest—it’s about changing the very DNA of the Conservative Party, bringing it back to its core values and rekindling grassroots enthusiasm. He’s made no bones about the failures of the party’s recent organisation, with both he and Rees-Mogg sharply criticising how members have been sidelined by Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ). In an explicit attack, they wrote: “Members were constantly badgered for money, but their thoughts and ideas on policy were disregarded. That can never be allowed to happen again.”

It’s not just internal reform on the agenda. The duo promises a fresh approach to candidate selection, where party members will have a say in who gets to wear the “blue rosette”—a direct pitch to the Tory faithful.

As for Kemi Badenoch, she hasn’t held back, saying that her own leadership will focus on fixing both the British state and economy. But with Rees-Mogg’s backing, Jenrick looks to have an ace up his sleeve in his mission to revitalise the party and take on Labour head-on.

Both leaders are running hard for the top job, but with the promise of a “Rees-Mogg renaissance” should Jenrick win, the stakes have never been higher.
