A bold new website has launched with a clear mission: shine a bright light on what it claims are the double standards, strategic manipulation, and hidden costs of the Liberal Democrats’ campaign machine.
Liberals Exposed, available now at www.ExposingLiberals.org, is the brainchild of political activist and strategist Luigi Murton, who says he’s tired of seeing the party “market itself as centrist and sensible while quietly deploying tactics that leave communities confused, divided, and often worse off.”
At first glance, the site is slick and sharply focused. But its real punch comes in the form of detailed case studies and tactical breakdowns, most notably, a blistering exposé of the Lib Dems’ poster campaigns, which Murton claims are “the visual backbone of a psychological strategy designed to intimidate opponents and artificially inflate credibility.”
According to the site, these campaigns are no accident. “Creating a micro-climate of inevitability,” Murton explains, “is one of their oldest and most successful tricks. Yellow diamond posters don’t just say ‘we’re here’ – they whisper ‘you’ve already lost.’” The report goes on to dissect how the Lib Dems prioritise strategic poster placement, time their rollouts to deliver maximum visual shock, and even track supportive homes through sophisticated software tools most rivals don’t possess.
But Liberals Exposed isn’t just about highlighting tactics, it’s about arming challengers. The site pledges support for anti-Lib Dem candidates across the UK, offering digital megaphones, campaign muscle, and boots on the ground for those who want to take the fight to the doorsteps of Liberal control.
“Local elections can be won or lost by a handful of votes,” the site reads. “If you’re standing against a Liberal candidate, we want to help… Those with common-sense values deserve a fighting chance.”
Murton says the goal is not just opposition, but transparency. “We’re not afraid to say: yes, some of their methods are smart. But smart doesn’t mean ethical. Smart doesn’t mean democratic. And if these strategies are out in the open, others can learn, adapt, and win — with better values and a stronger message.”
That message is timely, given the Liberal Democrats’ recent surge in local elections. On Thursday 1st May, the party gained 160 councillors and took control of Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire, and Shropshire, with Sir Ed Davey hailing the results as “fantastic.” They are now the largest party on Devon, Hertfordshire, Gloucestershire, and Wiltshire county councils too.
But for Murton and his team, these victories aren’t a triumph. They’re a red flag.
Another major story on the site: the Cambridge congestion charge debacle. Originally proposed by a Liberal Democrat-led partnership in 2023, the £5-a-day charge sparked mass protests and rare scenes of political unity, including left-wing Cambridge residents applauding a Conservative MP for opposing the plan.
“It was a perfect storm of Liberal inconsistency and public backlash,” Murton says. “While Lib Dem councillors pushed for the charge in Cambridge, their party colleagues in Cardiff opposed a similar scheme and called for a referendum. Then, when it got too hot, the same Lib Dems started distributing anti-charge leaflets, attacking their own policy.”
The proposal was eventually dropped, but only after damaging by-election swings and furious community organising. “It wasn’t scrapped because it was wrong,” Murton argues. “It was scrapped because it was costing votes.”
With new councils now under Liberal Democrat control, Exposing Liberals warns that more policy U-turns, internal feuding, and what it calls “vote-driven virtue signalling” may be on the horizon.
“When the Liberal Democrats get power, confusion follows,” the site declares. “And unfortunately for local residents, they’re the ones left paying the price — sometimes literally, just to drive their own car.”
Liberals Exposed is now calling for supporters, local campaigners, and concerned residents to get involved. Visitors to the site can sign up to receive updates and contribute local tips or evidence. “It’s a voluntary group welcoming everyone who opposes Liberal views and we want to hear as many stories and opinions from those who face Lib Dems,” says Founder Luigi Murton.
In a political landscape increasingly defined by image, strategy, and perception, Murton’s website doesn’t pull punches. It offers a toolkit for counter-strategy, a rallying point for those who feel left behind by what they see as empty centrism, and a simple message for its readers:
