Our economy – once a roaring lion, a buccaneering powerhouse of commerce – has been reduced to a whimpering kitten by none other than Labour’s own Rachel from Accounts: Chancellor Rachel Reeves.
Yes, Reeves, who inherited a thriving economy growing at a robust 2.2% annual rate in the first half of 2024 – with inflation prudently tamed at 2% – has proceeded to crash it into the ground faster than you can say “Laffer curve.”
Growth is now zero, inflation is surging towards 3.7%, and those long-term interest rates she once decried under Liz Truss? Skyrocketing. Hypocrisy much? Reeves now presides over higher long-term rates than the ones she called the hallmark of economic collapse.
The lefty media might try to protect her, weaving fanciful narratives of competence and compassion, but facts are facts. Anyone with even a morsel of fiscal nous can see she’s out of her depth.
And here lies the question: Why is the lefty media so determined to shield her from scrutiny? Are they wilfully blind to the economic wreckage she has wrought, or simply complicit in propping up a failing ideology? The facts are plain for all to see – yet the chorus of excuses continues, with reality buried beneath layers of partisan spin.
So how has this economic vandalism been achieved? Let’s count just some of the ways:
- Tax Jobs: Labour’s genius plan – slap a massive tax increase on employing people, driving up costs for businesses and driving down employment. Bravo, Rachel!
- Punish Farmers: Our hard-working farmers, guardians of our green and pleasant land, now face a cruel inheritance tax alongside higher taxes that deter investment in productivity-boosting equipment.
- Energy Price Hikes: Managed energy prices have been tripled, rendering UK energy hopelessly uncompetitive and forcing businesses to shut their doors.
- Crush Small Businesses: The very bedrock of British enterprise – family companies – have been burdened with more NI contributions, more red tape and more taxes, discouraging investment and innovation. Who would want to set up a business under Labour?
- Public Sector Pay Giveaways: Inflation-busting pay increases have been handed out in the public sector with zero demand for productivity gains. Naturally, this drives up costs for everyone else.
- Market Mayhem: Labour’s reckless spending and borrowing spree has spooked the markets, driving up long-term interest rates.
- Housing Policy Confusion: New planning permissions announced without addressing core issues of affordability and demand. Result? Chaos.
- Cost of Living Chaos: Council taxes, rail fares, water bills – all hiked, fueling inflation rather than stabilising it.
- Money Abroad, Misery at Home: As UK businesses and pensioners are squeezed, Labour sends millions from our public purse abroad and on fanciful green schemes.
- Bank of England Neglect: The Bank of England has racked up staggering losses – £30 billion in just nine months – with not a whisper of action from Reeves.
- EU Delusions: Reeves dreams of EU-driven growth while Germany stagnates and Brussels offers no tangible benefits.
And what is the result of this socialist symphony of chaos? The UK, once an economic beacon, now matches Germany’s dismal growth rate while the USA streaks ahead.
Let’s put it in terms even Reeves might understand: If she were in the private sector, she’d have been given the boot faster than you can say “P45.”
The British people deserve better. We deserve leadership with vision, courage, and at least an understanding of basic economics. It’s time to act. Sack Rachel from Accounts before she does any more damage.
