The Left Has the Megaphone… It’s Time the Right Built the Speakers

I’ve seen it too many times. The moment a wide-eyed, freshly minted graduate bursts from the halls of university and into a newsroom, they arrive like a guided missile… locked on every Conservative target in sight. Their mission? Not to report. Not to investigate. But to deconstruct. To gotcha.

They don’t arrive neutral. They arrive mobilised. Trained, not in the noble art of dispassionate journalism, but in the doctrine of ideological activism. Primed and ready to sock it to the right with machine-like efficiency.

And the tragedy? It works. I’ve worked in newsrooms on both sides of the Atlantic and my family own regional newspapers. In fact I learnt to walk, talk, and write in local newspaper offices and I can spot the lefty activists early—like the first spots on a weather radar before a storm. Their headlines drip with veiled disdain. Their interviews are spring-loaded with traps. These are not curious minds anymore. They are campaigners with keyboards… and NUJ cards.

This isn’t a conspiracy. It’s a curriculum.

Universities, once bastions of independent thought, are increasingly assembly lines for activist-journalists who parrot the progressive orthodoxy with alarming precision. They’ve got the toolkit: intersectionality, climate alarmism, economic redistribution, cultural deconstruction… and a smouldering suspicion of anything with a blue rosette.

Meanwhile, what of the right? Oh dear.

The intellectual firepower of conservative think tanks is extraordinary – bulging with PhDs, macroeconomic models, and footnoted white papers that could dazzle a House of Lords select committee into stunned silence. But as for their reach? Their resonance? Alas, it is too often the sound of one hand clapping in a Westminster reading room.

These institutions are like Formula One cars: sleek, powerful, full of potential… but permanently parked in the pit lane while the left hurtles past in a convoy of noise and narrative.

And let’s not ignore the realpolitik here: the left activates. They don’t just tweet. They swarm. They organise pile-ons like they’re Olympic events. When a councillor slips up, a Tory or Reform UK MP fumbles a quote, or a school dares to fly the Union flag, the outrage machine spins into life: emails, comments, letters, protests. It’s fast. It’s ferocious. It’s effective.

By contrast, conservatives often prefer to tut quietly, sigh heavily, and move on. We’re too polite. Too conservative. Too British. Too convinced that the facts alone will win the day. But facts, ladies and gentlemen, are necessary… yes… but not sufficient. In politics, it’s not only about what you say, but how many people hear it, and how loudly.

Let’s face it: the right has allowed itself to become the silent majority in the comms war.

Well, not anymore.

That’s why Ben Habib and our Great British PAC team are launching a proper communications operation. No more polite letters into the void. No more preaching to the converted. We’re building a message machine that can cut through. We’ll bring the research out of the ivory towers and into the inboxes, the TikToks, the timelines, and the tea rooms.

But we’re not stopping there.

We are building a real grassroots conservative network, from students to retirees. A university activist network that actually supports those who refuse to bend the knee to ideological orthodoxy. A communications cadre to match the left’s message discipline and reach.

Because let’s be honest: the institutions that shape our future: academia, media, the arts have been left to lean. Not gently. But aggressively. And they won’t be countered with silence or scholarly PDFs.

We need boots on the ground, voices on the airwaves, keyboards in the comment sections. We need to be visible, vocal, and unapologetically persuasive.

We are not starting from nothing. We have the better arguments. We have the facts. We have common sense. We have tradition. We have freedom. But none of it matters if no one hears us… OR if we’re too polite to shout above the din.

So yes, the left trains an army of journalists. But we are building the engineers, the architects, and the innovators of a proper patriotic renaissance.

It’s time we built our own megaphone… and spoke.

Please join us at the Great British PAC.
