Donald Trump has declared victory in the U.S. presidential election, delivering an electrifying speech from Florida that marked what he described as a “powerful mandate” from the American people.
Appearing before a cheering crowd in Palm Beach, the Republican announced his success in key swing states, claiming North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, with results indicating he is on track to also take Wisconsin and Michigan by a landslide.
Remarkably, the 78-year-old is also expected to win the popular vote and has also taken back control of the American senate.
Flanked by his family, running mate JD Vance, and UFC President Dana White, Trump hailed the night as a monumental moment in American politics. “This was, I believe, the greatest political movement of all time,” he told supporters. “And now it’s going to reach a new level of importance because we’re going to help our country heal… we made history for a reason tonight.”
He went on to promise his unwavering support to his voters, vowing, “Every single day I will be fighting for you… this is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.”
JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, praised his leader’s resilience, calling Trump’s win “the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States.” UFC’s Dana White added, “The machine couldn’t stop him,” further energising the Florida crowd.
“It’s time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us, it’s time to unite… and we’re going to try,” Donald Trump said.
“Success is going to bring us together and we are gonig to start by putting America first… because together we can truly make America great again for all Americans.”
“Many people have told me that God spared my life for a reason and that reason was to save our country, and to restore America to greatness,” he said.
“And now we are going to fulfil that mission together… I will bring every ounce of energy, spirit and fight to the job that you’ve entrusted to me.”
His opponent, Kamala Harris’ campaign party in Washington, D.C. ended abruptly when it was confirmed she would not be addressing her supporters.
