The Princess of Wales will be gracing the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final with her presence tomorrow, as confirmed today by Kensington Palace.
Princess Kate, who is patron of the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, is expected to present the trophy to the winner of the coveted Men’s Singles Final.
This appearance marks the Princess’s second public engagement this year, following her participation in King’s birthday parade.
Earlier in March, she disclosed that she is undergoing treatment for cancer, making her attendance all the more poignant.
Her team have been quick to stress that while she was feeling well enough to attend the Trooping the Colour, her attendance was not a sign of her complete return to royal duties. They noted the princess would only attend events across the summer, as and when she feels able to, with the support and guidance of her medical team.
Wimbledon is a firm favourite of Kate’s and the event also has a deep-rooted connection with the Royal Family, with royals presenting trophies since 1907.
In the event that the Princess was unable to attend, the Duchess of Gloucester was considered as a potential substitute. However, all eyes will be on Princess Kate tomorrow as she continues this cherished royal tradition.
