British Forces Cyprus (BFC) welcomed a special guest at the weekend as world-famous singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran MBE took time out of his busy schedule to visit UK troops and their families stationed at Dhekelia garrison.
The star, known globally for his chart-topping hits, was in Cyprus for the final two shows of his Mathematics world tour but made sure to spend part of the afternoon with service personnel and their excited families.
Sheeran’s visit was a morale booster for the troops, as he mingled with soldiers, signed autographs, took selfies, and shared stories. Many attendees expressed their excitement at the opportunity to meet the artist, with one service member remarking, “How lucky are we! I can’t believe it. It means a lot that someone like him would take time to come and support us. We love you, Ed.”
The highlight of the day came when Sheeran took to the stage for an intimate acoustic performance at Dhekelia rugby pitch. Playing a selection of his most-loved songs, the private concert was a hit with both soldiers and their families, offering a moment of connection and joy for those stationed far from home.
The visit was a memorable experience for everyone involved, as Sheeran stayed to take photos and chat with families before heading to his grand finale show at Larnaca’s Land of Tomorrow venue, which was a sold-out, record-breaking event.
