The Duke of Edinburgh has met UK and partner force trainers along with Ukrainian soldiers currently undergoing training as part of Op INTERFLEX.
The visit provided an opportunity for The Duke of Edinburgh to watch the training being delivered and interact with the instructors and trainees to gain an understanding of their experiences.
Operation INTERFLEX is the UK led training programme for Ukrainian recruits. The training is for new volunteer recruits who have joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine with little to no previous military experience to teach them the skills required to survive and be effective in frontline combat.
The programme is part of the UK’s enduring commitment to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia.
Over 1,000 UK service personnel are involved in implementing the programme, which is taking place at MOD sites across the North West, South West and South East of the UK.
The training gives volunteer recruits with little to no military experience the skills to be effective in frontline combat. Based on the UK’s basic soldier training, the course covers weapons handling, battlefield first aid, fieldcraft, patrol tactics and the Law of Armed Conflict.
