It’s difficult to fathom just how bleak things have become already under Keir Starmer and this Labour government.
A Prime Minister devoid of charisma or vision, a cabinet brimming with mediocrity, and a nation left poorer, colder, and more vulnerable. This is not the Britain we could—or should—be living in.
Technically, Boris Johnson could still be Prime Minister right now. He needn’t have called a general election until January 2025.
Imagine where we could be now with Boris at the helm and Donald Trump back in the White House. Instead of this spiral into despair, we could have been charting the most spectacular Anglo-American trade deal in history—a partnership that would have made the world sit up and take notice.
The Vision We Lost
Let’s not forget the groundwork Boris laid for Britain’s global resurgence. The Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)—a monumental achievement—will soon come to fruition, offering extraordinary opportunities for British exporters. Just one example of the fruit of Boris’s hardworking diplomacy.
With Boris in No. 10, steady and intelligent hands like Jacob Rees-Mogg, Suella Braverman, Alok Shama and Ben Wallace would still be guiding the country with purpose. Nadine Dorries would be ensuring the BBC reflected British values rather than metropolitan elite narratives. Liz Truss would still be forging world-class trade deals, cementing our economic future.
And what of Priti Patel? She WAS turning the tide on illegal immigration, setting up flights to Rwanda and sending a clear message to the world: if you come here illegally, you will be sent packing. Our borders were being protected, our sovereignty upheld. Flights would now be taking off and an almighty deterrent would be in place.
Where We Are Now
Contrast that vision with today’s grim reality. Our borders are open, and illegal arrivals flood the streets, emboldened by a Labour government that will never act decisively. Flights to Rwanda? Scrapped. Pensioners face a winter of despair as energy bills soar, while Labour dithers, deflects, and fails to take responsibility.
And then there’s our countryside—at risk of being swallowed up by corporate giants. Seas of solar panels will be replacing green pastures, all in the name of progress. This is Labour’s Britain: colder, darker, poorer, and ruled by those who seem to hold little regard for the people or their heritage.
A Missed Opportunity for Greatness
It didn’t have to be this way. Boris Johnson’s government, for all its challenges, was delivering. Despite navigating a global pandemic, his leadership was ambitious, optimistic, and unapologetically British. Under Boris, Brexit was seen as an opportunity, not a burden, and Britain was on its way to becoming the fastest-growing economy in the G7.
With Trump set to return to the White House, the stage was perfectly set for a transatlantic partnership that could have reshaped the global order. Britain and America, united, could have faced down authoritarian regimes, revitalised their economies, and championed freedom across the world.
The Betrayal of 60 MPs
Yet here we are, and for what? Because of the betrayal of 60 lemming MPs and a media class eager to see Boris ousted. Boris wasn’t in the pocket of the global elite; he was a champion of freedom and conservatism, and that made him an enemy to those who prioritise control over opportunity.
To those MPs, I say this: you will not be forgiven. You ousted a democratically elected, charismatic leader with a bold vision for one whose mediocrity now defines our nation. You paved the way for Labour to take the reins of power, and now Britain will pay the price.
The Path Ahead
But Britain is resilient. This dark chapter will not define us. The spirit of Boris Johnson—the optimism, the ambition, the unapologetic love for this country—still burns brightly in the hearts of millions.
Let us remember what could have been, and let that memory fuel our determination to fight for what still can be. Britain deserves better. With the right leadership, it can be great once more.
