Prince and Princess of Wales visit Commonwealth soldiers preparing for The Queen’s State Funeral

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales today (Friday) visited the Army Training Centre Pirbright, where they were briefed on the preparations being undertaken by the respective Armed Forces for Her Majesty The Queen’s State Funeral.

Their Royal Highnesses were accompanied to the parade square by Lieutenant General Ian Cave CB and Brigadier Patrick Reehal MBE, where they observed the conclusion of the State Funeral rehearsals which included ceremonial contingents of the Commonwealth.

Their Royal Highnesses met and chatted with personnel from Australia, New Zealand and Canada and before their departure, the Royal couple were treated to a performance of the New Zealand Defence Force Haka.

Army Training Centre Pirbright delivers the 14 week training course known as the Common Military Syllabus which is completed by all adult recruits when they join the Army.

The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday 19th September at 1100hrs BST.
