Popular Conservatism (PopCon) has called for the Government to urgently address the public’s concerns about immigration and offered its support to Donna Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
The group of influential conservative movers and shakers have also called on conservatives across the country to support the fundamental principles on which they stand and support Donna Jones PCC in her hour of need.
Popcon, which is about giving ordinary people, taxpayers and voters, their freedom back, was set up by high profile conservatives including former Prime Minister Liz Truss and former IEA Director General Mark Littlewood last year and enjoys huge support from conservative members and commentators across the country.
They have now gone public suggesting Keir Starmer and his COBRA committee “are blind to current causes of public anger which have resulted in the recent protests” and said they are firmly backing PPC Donna Jones.
PCC Jones, the democratically elected Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight put out a statement at the weekend which many feel succinctly addresses the reasons for current public dissatisfaction and protests.

The Conservative PCC immediately received thousands of supportive messages from across the country on social media. However, her statement has also attracted a fierce attack from Labour and the Lib Dems who are now reportedly gunning for her removal from office.
Claire Bullivant at the Conservative Post said:
“As expected, the usual left leaning organisations on social media are pushing a false narrative as to what PCC Jones wrote. However, let her words speak for themselves. They are very clear in their delivery and on behalf of our readers, we thank PCC Jones for addressing this important issue and asking the crucial questions we all want the answers to.”
To restore peace to our streets PopCon are asking the Government to take on board the PCC’s comments and “urgently address the public’s concerns.”
A spokesperson for PopCon said:
Every society has thugs who will take advantage of any situation in order to damage our nation. People’s safety must always come first. The way to do that is to understand and act upon the concerns of the peaceful majority and treat all perpetrators of illegal acts equally under the law. As Conservatives in opposition, we must stand together to call both for calm and for actions to be taken to address the serious concerns of millions in our country.”
Head of Communications at PopCon, Annunziata Rees-Mogg added:
“We completely support Donna’s stance and call for the attacks on Ms Jones and calls for her resignation to cease. The perception of two-tier responses from the Government and the police are exacerbating a deeply worrying situation. To restore peace to our streets we need the Government urgently to address the public’s concerns.
“Criminality and violence should always be condemned and we do not support the heinous actions of a minority of protesters. But the palpable anger of millions of British people of being ignored, unheard and condemned as far right is being fuelled by politicians and police refusing to acknowledge the frustration that despite voting out one government they saw as untrustworthy, the new one disregards their concerns even more.”
PCC Donna Jones stated:
“We all need to work together to stop this mindless criminal behaviour committed by a small number of people, whilst understanding the views of those attending rallies who feel strongly but don’t cause disorder.”
