This year’s Games, which introduced winter sports for the first time, celebrated courage, resilience, and the unbreakable spirit of competitors from across the globe.
The closing ceremony at Rogers Arena in Vancouver saw Team UK join fellow athletes from around the world for a poignant finale, culminating in the formal handover of the Invictus Games flag.
Canada passed the torch to the United Kingdom, which will proudly host the Games in Birmingham in 2027.
Minister for Veterans and People, Al Carns, accepted the flag during the ceremony, sharing the stage with Helen Helliwell, chief executive of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027. Both delivered stirring speeches, brimming with excitement for the next chapter of the Invictus journey.
A partnership between the Ministry of Defence and the Royal British Legion, Team UK showcased their grit and determination throughout the Games. They delivered standout performances, claiming silver medals in a nail-biting wheelchair rugby final against France and reaching the semi-finals in wheelchair volleyball. More than victories, these moments reflected the team’s heart, determination, and personal triumphs.
