Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh will proudly represent the United Kingdom during an official visit to Japan from Thursday 18th to Monday 22nd September 2025.
The visit will mark another milestone in the enduring friendship and shared values between the two nations.
In Osaka and Tokyo, Their Royal Highnesses will take part in a wide range of engagements, reflecting themes that resonate strongly in both countries: empowering youth, advancing sustainability and innovation, educating the next generation, and promoting women in leadership. These priorities showcase Britain’s global outlook and its commitment to fostering opportunity and progress at home and abroad.
A highlight of the visit will be Their Royal Highnesses’ attendance at EXPO 2025, Osaka, Kansai, where they will tour both the UK and Japanese Pavilions. As Japan’s most significant international event of the decade, EXPO 2025 will unite people, cultures, and cutting-edge innovations from around the world to address some of humanity’s greatest challenges. The Duke and Duchess’s presence will underscore Britain’s role as a leading voice for collaboration and forward-thinking solutions.
This important visit will not only celebrate the strength of UK–Japan relations, but also shine a spotlight on the values that both nations hold dear: innovation, resilience, and a shared determination to build a brighter future for generations to come.
