CLOWNING STREET: WEEK 61 – This Week’s Madness from ‘Two-Tier Keir’ and His Labour Circus

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome back to Britain’s most tragic travelling carnival. The popcorn is burnt, the tent flaps are torn, and the clowns are fighting among themselves behind the curtain.

Yes, it is Week 61 of Clowning Street, where Two-Tier Keir and his troupe of red-nosed bunglers stumble from one disaster to the next, leaving the paying audience, the British public, poorer, angrier, and thoroughly unimpressed.

The headline act this week? Labour’s fight with its own voters (the British public) over migrant hotels. In a grotesque twist, the circus masters are clamping down not on illegal immigration, but on ordinary residents who dare to protest against their towns being turned into open-air hostels. In Labour’s upside-down tent, the public are the villains while law-breaking newcomers are pampered like VIP guests in the big top. It’s less border policy, more clown car valet service.

Meanwhile, the circus star Angela Rayner is back in the spotlight… and not for her political prowess. The Deputy PM now faces an ethics investigation over her tax affairs, alongside fresh questions about where she actually lives and what she actually owes. She seems to have sidestepped a rather large tax bill that the rest of us would have had to pay… yes, again! One might think a trapeze artist struggling to keep track of her own address and paperwork shouldn’t be running the country’s second-highest office, but in Clowning Street, that’s part of the act.

In the builders’ ring, Labour’s bureaucratic straitjacket is breaking Britain’s construction industry. A nation of bricklayers and craftsmen has been reduced to form-fillers and paper-pushers as Labour starts taxing dirt. Yep, you read that right. Rachel Reeves and her merry band of Treasury alchemists have hit upon an idea so catastrophically deranged that one wonders if they’ve taken too many custard pies to the head. They plan, wait for it, to hike the landfill tax from its current modest £4 a tonne to the monstrous, ruinous, jaw-dropping sum of £126. And the effect? Utter devastation. Let’s put this in plain language: the cost of waste per house, currently about £690, would balloon to a stratospheric £24,820. That’s not a surcharge; that’s an execution notice. It will add £24,000 to the cost of a new home. A tax on mud, a tax on rubble, a tax on the very earth beneath our feet. Projects stall, red tape strangles, and the hard hats are being swapped for clown hats, courtesy of Starmer’s regulators.

Meanwhile, under the Welfare Tent, a record-breaking 6.5 million Britons are now on jobless benefits. That’s right, more people than ever are signed off, sidelined, or sitting idle while taxpayers foot the bill. This isn’t compassion. It’s a benefits bonanza, a confetti cannon of dependency fired straight into the audience.

The job losses don’t end there. Labour’s beloved tax raids have already wiped out 90,000 hospitality jobs, gutting pubs, restaurants, and cafés up and down the country. Once the beating heart of British social life, hospitality is now another casualty of Reeves’ “fairness” agenda, which looks increasingly like a wrecking ball in clown paint.

In transport, the HGV market has also now collapsed, another casualty of Labour’s economic sabotage. Once-proud haulage firms now sit idle while shelves go bare and supply chains creak. It’s like watching the circus elephants refuse to perform… except instead of peanuts, the punishment is Labour’s tax and regulation madness.

And speaking of the clown accountant, Rachel Reeves has managed to push Britain’s borrowing costs to their highest in nearly 27 years. That’s not balancing the books, that’s setting them on fire while juggling IOUs. The Bank of England now warns the UK could be heading straight into a 1970s-style debt crisis, with banks already losing £8 billion. It’s not a financial strategy. It’s a trapeze act without a safety net, and the fall will be spectacular.

So, what have we learned from Week 61 under the Labour Big Top?

  • The government is fighting its own voters instead of illegal immigration
  • The Deputy PM can’t remember where she lives
  • Builders are buried under red tape
  • A record 6.5 million Britons are on jobless benefits
  • 90,000 hospitality jobs have vanished in smoke
  • The HGV industry is collapsing
  • Borrowing costs are sky high
  • And the country is barrelling towards a 1970s-style debt crisis

This isn’t a government. It’s a pantomime on stilts, a slapstick disaster in slow motion, a circus where the lions have escaped and the clowns are in charge of the fire exits. Britain deserves better than this troop of bunglers. Until then, the show goes on… and the audience grows restless.
