GREAT BRITISH NEWS: Top positive news stories from across the UK this week

Finding uplifting stories under this Labour government often feels like hunting for sunshine in a thunderstorm, but the truth is Britain’s greatness shines on regardless.

While Labour dithers, stumbles, and embarrasses us on the world stage, real achievements are taking place across this country, powered by the grit, brilliance and determination of the British people.

At the Conservative Post we make it our mission each week to spotlight the stories that prove Britain is still a force to be reckoned with.

This week was no exception. In politics, industry, sport, and culture, the roar of Britain could be heard loud and clear. From the bold entrance of Advance UK onto the political scene with the backing of none other than Elon Musk, to the tangible legacy of Boris Johnson’s national shipbuilding strategy delivering a monumental £10 billion warship deal for Scotland, Britain is showing the world it can innovate, build, and lead.

These aren’t vague promises from press conferences in Westminster, these are real, material wins for us all that will shape our future and defend our sovereignty.

Even the mood in the media is shifting. When daytime television hosts, hardly known as defenders of the right, start questioning Labour’s direction, you know the ground is moving. The British public can see the cracks in this government, and more importantly, they can see alternatives rising that are rooted in common sense, patriotism, and strength.

Meanwhile, voices like Kemi Badenoch continue to cut through with the clarity Labour lacks, reminding us that “drill baby drill” isn’t just a slogan, it’s the kind of energy policy Britain desperately needs before Labour leaves us freezing, broke, and begging foreign powers for fuel.

On the global stage, the Royal Navy continues to demonstrate British excellence and commitment. HMS Prince of Wales arriving in Tokyo was more than a naval milestone this week, it was a symbol of Britain’s Indo-Pacific resolve, a reminder to friend and foe alike that this country remains a serious power with global reach. And back at home, the Changing of the Guard carried a special resonance as British and Ukrainian bands performed side by side to mark Ukraine’s Independence Day, a powerful display of solidarity and a celebration of freedom.

Our sporting heroes brought further pride as an Englishman stormed to victory on the PGA Tour in the US, pocketing a $10 million prize and putting Britain firmly on the golfing map once again. It was yet another reminder that, whether in business, defence, politics or sport, the spirit of competition and triumph runs deep in our national veins.

Yes, Labour may govern for now, but the greatness of Britain does not depend on the tenants of Downing Street. It resides in the people, in our institutions, in our industries, in our armed forces, and in those who still dare to dream big. This week once again showed that Britain is still roaring with pride, innovation, and resilience. The lion has not been silenced… and it must, and will, roar again.
