The Conservatives handed over to Labour the fastest-growing economy in the G7, a thriving powerhouse that was defying expectations and leading the way in post-pandemic recovery.
But what have we seen since they took the reins in July? A torrent of doom-and-gloom rhetoric and a spiteful budget which has knocked consumer confidence to its knees and sent investors scurrying for the exit.
The numbers do not lie. The latest figures show that the UK economy barely grew between July and September—just 0.1%. Worse still, the economy shrank in September. So much for Labour’s promises to prioritise economic growth. Even Chancellor Rachel Reeves admits she’s “not satisfied” with these dismal figures. And who can blame her? For a party that claimed it would “build a better Britain,” they’ve taken just three months to bring it to the brink.
Tax Hikes on Jobs: A Recipe for Disaster
The latest Budget has been nothing short of catastrophic for businesses. Labour’s obsession with tax hikes is a death sentence for jobs. The increase in National Insurance Contributions for firms, coupled with a higher minimum wage, is set to stifle pay, hiring, and investment. Even the big players—Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, JD Sports—are warning that prices will go up. And where does that leave the hardworking people of this country? Paying more for less.
Small businesses, the very heart and soul of our economy, are already shutting their doors up and down the country. Labour may claim they are all about “fairness,” but what’s fair about putting people out of work and driving family-run businesses into the ground?
A Cloud of Uncertainty and Doom
The CBI’s lead economist, Ben Jones, has revealed the truth that Labour doesn’t want you to hear. Firms are holding back—delaying decisions, freezing hiring, and cutting investment. Why? Because of the sheer uncertainty surrounding Labour’s chaotic policies. Businesses up and down the country saw the Budget coming like a storm cloud on the horizon, and when it hit, it set off alarm bells in boardrooms everywhere.
And who can blame them? Investors are fleeing Britain’s shores as Labour abolishes Non-Dom benefits, driving away the very people who bring jobs, investment, and innovation to our country. This is the reality of Labour’s anti-business, anti-growth agenda.
Brace Yourselves: The Worst Is Yet to Come
Let’s be clear—things are set to go from bad to worse. Christmas may bring a brief respite, but when the festive lights are packed away and the New Year dawns, the cold, hard reality of Labour’s economic policies will start to bite. From April, when their disastrous Budget is in full swing, we will see even more pain. Higher taxes, fewer jobs, and a grim outlook for businesses and consumers alike.
The Labour Government has driven us into a dead end already. They took the reins of a thriving economy after Covid and within months have turned it into a cautionary tale of what happens when ideology trumps common sense conservatism. It’s time to face facts… Labour’s policies are strangling the very economy they promised to grow.
