One of Britain’s most iconic engineering firms is shaping the workforce of tomorrow, as Sheffield Forgemasters opens applications for 21 apprenticeships to support a new era of world-class manufacturing.
As part of a £900 million transformation of its historic site, the Ministry of Defence-owned company is preparing to recruit the first wave of apprentices for 2025, marking a key step in building Britain’s next generation of defence and nuclear engineers.
This initial intake forms part of a broader recruitment campaign, with a second tranche of opportunities due to be announced in the coming weeks. All apprentices will play a vital role in supporting the creation of a new 13,000-tonne forging line and a state-of-the-art 30,000m² machining facility—two cornerstones of the UK’s most advanced heavy engineering campus.

The award-winning apprenticeship scheme provides fully-funded, hands-on training leading to professional qualifications, placing successful applicants at the heart of critical national industries, including defence, civil nuclear, and renewable energy.
Wynne continued:
