Dear MP,
The Rwanda Bill will not stop the boats.
As the former Minister for Immigration has made clear, if it passes in its current form, foreign courts will stop flights.
And every person who comes here illegally will block their removal in the courts for months and months on end.
It will leave our country without a border. And allow tens of thousands more people to pour into our country illegally every year.
If we pass a third illegal migration bill that won’t stop the boats, the country will rightly never forgive us.
If this happened, I, despite being a loyal Conservative, could not vote for Rishi Sunak’s Government to be re-elected.
And I could not support anyone, either in a general election or to be my Conservative MP, who backed a dud Bill.
You need to FIX this Bill now, and fully support the amendments Bill Cash and Robert Jenrick have put forward.
We cannot allow illegal migrants to block their removal with spurious legal challenges – SO FIX IT.
We cannot allow European judges to block flights removing illegal migrants AGAIN – SO FIX IT.
And if the Bill is not FIXED, it must be KILLED. No ifs, no buts. Far better to introduce a new Bill that would stop the boats than pass yet another one that won’t.
Our country and party is facing a crisis.
Just like in the Spring of 2019, you must ignore the know-nothing Remoaner press saying Conservative MPs must unite behind a failing strategy. Instead, you should be brave, and do what’s right for the country.
