The Burden of Over-Taxation

This government, it seems, is determined to put that analogy to the test.
Businesses, households, and entrepreneurs—the lifeblood of our economy—are being squeezed until their bones creak. The state, meanwhile, borrows and spends with all the prudence of a sailor on shore leave.
Labour’s October budget statement, riddled with the word “growth” no fewer than 31 times, was a masterpiece of Orwellian doublespeak. For all its rhetorical flourishes, the facts remain: taxes are up, borrowing is up, and growth is but a wistful mirage on the horizon.
Waste, Not Wealth
Let us speak plainly: you cannot tax your way to prosperity. You cannot grow an economy by choking its arteries with red tape, seizing the fruits of labour, and spending them on wasteful projects that yield neither benefit nor return. Britain’s households and firms are being treated as inexhaustible wells of revenue, but even the deepest wells run dry.
The Labour government seems to believe that public spending, no matter how profligate, is the panacea for all ills. But let us remember that a pound in the hands of a diligent worker or an innovative entrepreneur is worth ten squandered by the state.
The Danger of Borrowed Time

Labour’s economic policies are not merely misguided; they are dangerous. They risk plunging Britain into an era of deep stagnation, where the ambitions of our people are stifled and the hopes of future generations are mortgaged to pay for the excesses of today.
A Choice for Britain’s Future
The British people have a choice: to accept this slow decline or to demand better. I urge the latter. Let us reject the politics of envy and embrace the politics of opportunity. Let us refuse to be dragged down by a government standing in its economic bucket, grasping desperately at a handle that cannot lift it.
