Foreign Secretary David Lammy has splashed a staggering £891,719 on private air travel in just his first three months in office—nearly half of what Liz Truss spent during her entire tenure as Foreign Secretary in 2021-2022.
That’s £297,239 per month—a whopping 77.84% MORE than Truss forked out on flights. And all this while preaching about climate change being “one of the biggest dangers facing the world”.
LAMMY’S SKY-HIGH SPENDING
Since taking office, Lammy has racked up an eye-watering £916,177 on flights, ensuring he’s making the absolute most of his new gig—especially when it comes to luxury air miles at the taxpayer’s expense.
His priciest single trip? A jaunt to New Delhi, India, and Vientiane, Laos, which set taxpayers back a cool £266,456.
This, from the same Labour Party that wailed endlessly about Tory ministers’ travel expenses. Apparently, when it comes to swanning around the world in private jets, it’s one rule for them, another for everyone else!
LABOUR’S CLIMATE HYPOCRISY?
Despite clocking up nearly £1 million in jet fuel costs, Lammy continues to lecture the rest of us on climate change, calling it:
“One of the biggest dangers facing the world.”
Right… but only when it’s ordinary Brits being told to cut down on flights, ditch their petrol cars, and fork out for Net Zero taxes! When it’s Labour’s own ministers, they spare no expense, jetting around the world like rock stars while expecting taxpayers to foot the bill.
SO MUCH FOR LABOUR’S “NEW ERA”!
Labour promised a fresh approach, but just months in, they’re already splurging public money at an astonishing rate. If Lammy’s spending spree continues at this pace, he’ll have burned through well over £3.5 million on travel ALONE by the end of his first year.
