Ah, Darren. Darren, Daren. The Labour minister who looked us straight in the face on national television and told us, with the kind of misplaced confidence usually reserved for people explaining crypto to their nan, that the majority of people arriving on small boats were “children, babies and women.”
Now, in true Labour form, with all the slippery finesse of an eel in oil, he’s wiggling out of it. Of course he is.
Apparently, dear reader, the rest of us are just too thick to understand that he was actually referring to one specific boat. Yes… one boat. A unicorn boat. A mythical boat that just happened to carry the precise demographic he saw that one time to prop up Labour’s latest emotional bait-and-switch. Because, you see, the problem isn’t that MP Darren Jones said something untrue… it’s that we misunderstood his genius insight.
It’s 1984 all over again. Don’t believe your eyes. Don’t believe your ears. Just believe the Party.
Well no, Mr Jones. We did hear you. And no amount of Twitter backpedalling or smooth Westminster spin can un-say what you so plainly said:
“The majority of people in these boats are children, babies and women.”
Not some. Not on one day. No. You said majority. And it’s nonsense. Dangerous nonsense.
The numbers are unambiguous: Now in 2025 with the Rwanda Plan binned and no deterrents in place? 81% of recorded arrivals are men. The Home Office says so. That’s your own government department, Darren.
But this is the Labour MO. It’s in the party’s genetic code. Say the thing, feel the room, clock the backlash… and spin. It’s political parkour. From Keir Starmer’s “beer and curry was work” routine in Durham, to Angela Rayner playing peekaboo with a camera crew about whether she was there or not, Labour will tell you one thing on Monday, contradict it by Tuesday, and accuse you of being confused by Wednesday.
And of course Starmer uses every legal trick in the book to turn the volume down in the press. Because the dam’s cracking. The truth is dribbling out and his dishonest party is scrambling to plug the holes.
The British public can see it. They’re not fools. They know a backtrack when they hear one. Darren Jones said what he said because it fits Labour’s narrative: poor victims, evil Tories, open arms. That’s the playbook.
But the public sees what’s happening in Dover. They see the hotels full. The housing pressure. The impact on schools, on services, on the social contract. This is not compassion. It’s chaos dressed up in moral high ground.
And when you try to gaslight the country about who’s coming here and how, you lose not just credibility — but something deeper. Trust.
Labour are the party of the hoodwink. Of misdirection. Of, “We never said that,” even when the clip is right there.
So remember this moment. Watch the clip. And then ask yourself: if they lie so easily in the open just imagine what they’re doing behind closed doors.
Britain deserves better than this.
