
As Prime Minister Boris Johnson welcomed his Japanese counterpart, His Excellency Prime Minister Kashida of Japan to London this week, the pair were treated to a spectacular simultaneous display of Army ceremonial on the ground and a Royal Air Force flypast in the skies.
The Major General Commanding the Household Division, Major General Chris Ghika, welcomed His Excellency Prime Minister Kashida of Japan to Horse Guards Parade.

This is the famous ground where every year Trooping the Colour takes place for Her Majesty The Queen’s official birthday.

There, Nijmegen Company The Grenadier Guards, led by Major Robert Thompson, Company Commander, Nijmegen Company, Grenadier Guards, provided a ceremonial Guard of Honour of 48 Rank and File Guardsmen with their Regimental Colour (elaborately embroidered silk flag emblazoned with battle honours).
