The UK’s Cold Weather Warfare Specialists, 45 Commando have returned to the Arctic to hone their warfighting skills in one of the most inhospitable environments on the planet.

As the Lead Command Unit, 45 Commando must be prepared to conduct operations anywhere in the world at a moment’s notice. That includes the most extreme climates known to man, including Arctic, jungle and desert.
The Commandos are currently in the High North learning to be winter warriors conducting Arctic survival training in bitterly cold temperatures. The conditions are harsh around 200 miles inside the Arctic Circle, where the sun barely rises and temperatures plummet to below -30C.
Training commences with the Cold Weather Survival Courses which include ice breaking drills and marathon treks led by the Royal Marines Mountain Leaders.
