Commonwealth Troops have now flown in from across the world especially for the Coronation and are currently taking part in rehearsals with UK Armed Forces.
Over the weekend a full tri-service and Commonwealth rehearsal took place, ahead of the Armed Forces involvement in the procession that will accompany Their Majesties’ The King and Queen Consort from Westminster Abbey back to Buckingham Palace.
Taking place at RAF Odiham, sailors, soldiers, aviators, musicians, and members of the Commonwealth Armed Forces took part in a display of pageantry, professionalism, and pride to honour their new Commander-in-Chief, The King.
The rehearsal allowed over 7,000 service personnel to come together for the first time ahead of the event on the 6th May.
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said:
“We can be enormously proud of the professionalism and precision of our Armed Forces as they honour His Majesty, their new Commander-in-Chief.
“From the Procession on The Mall, to the flypast over London, with gun salutes at sea and across the country, it will be a spectacular and fitting tribute and a privilege to take part in for all those involved and watching from afar.”
Personnel from across the Commonwealth were also taking part in the rehearsal, flying in from across the world especially for the occasion.
Contributing nations included Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Brunei Darussalam, Cameroon, Canada, Eswatini, Fiji, Gabon, The Gambia, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Togo, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda and Zambia.
The Coronation of Their Majesties’ King Charles III and Queen Camilla is the largest military ceremonial operation for 70 years.
This will be comprised of two processions, escorting Their Majesties’ to and from Westminster Abbey, and a breath-taking Coronation flypast of more than 60 aircraft flying over Central London.
