GREAT BRITISH NEWS: Top positive news stories from across the UK this week

Finding good news under this Labour government is not unlike searching for sunlight in a storm… rare, faint, but always worth celebrating when it breaks through.

This week at the Conservative Post, we’ve once again done what the legacy media so often refuses to do: uncover the stories that remind us Britain remains a force to be reckoned with.

While Labour dithers, blunders, and embarrasses us on the world stage, the real strength of this nation is not found in Whitehall briefings or ministerial U-turns but in the spirit of its people and the enduring pride in our history and heritage.

Across Britain, achievements great and small have reminded us that the fabric of this country is still woven from resilience, ingenuity, and resolve. From ordinary families flying the Union Jack in defiance of Labour’s joyless sneer at patriotism, to soldiers of the RAF Regiment taking their rightful place at Buckingham Palace’s Changing of the Guard, symbols of pride have been everywhere. Even as Labour’s grey councillors try to drain colour from our communities, the flags continue to rise, and with them, the spirit of a nation that refuses to be cowed.

Patriotism has also found expression in politics, where new energy is surging. Ben Habib’s Advance UK has shattered expectations, rocketing to 30,000 members in just two months… a record-breaking rise that shows the appetite for a fresh, unapologetically patriotic movement.

Meanwhile, Nigel Farage stood before Reform UK supporters with his trademark fire, rallying his party to even greater heights as Nadine Dorries joined the leadership team. The political map of Britain is shifting, not because of Labour’s failed governance, but because ordinary Britons are demanding more… more courage, more honesty, and more accountability. Let’s just hope the patriots unite before 2029!

This was also a week of truth-telling. Baroness Nicholson’s blistering letter to the Metropolitan Police, tearing apart their shameful treatment of Graham Linehan, was a reminder that Britain still has voices unafraid to call out injustice. And while Labour clings to myths and excuses, the lie that Liz Truss “crashed the economy” is being openly dismantled. The public knows better. The collapse was Labour spin; the truth is now impossible to ignore.

Beyond the political battlefield, pride swelled in other arenas too. A heroic British captain was honoured with the Merchant Navy Medal after saving 89 lives at sea, proving once again that when courage is called for, Britons deliver. Our athletes kept the Union Jack flying high as the Red Roses stormed to their 30th straight victory, preparing for a showdown with Scotland, while Team GB claimed a glorious Nations Cup win in Canada. Such victories aren’t just about sport; they are proof of national character, discipline, and drive.

Innovation and science also had their moment as the UKAEA announced vital funding for fusion training at Edinburgh and York universities, laying the groundwork for a future powered by British brilliance. In the fields and rivers, success stories unfolded too, with major strides in tackling the devastating tree beetle infestation and the joyful return of water voles to the River Wey after a 20-year absence. These may not be the headlines the doomsayers wants you to read, but they are the stories that speak of recovery, resilience, and renewal.

Britain is still producing triumphs, still inspiring the world, and still holding true to its values, even if Labour tries to pull us in the other direction. From politics to sport, from science to the seas, this week has once again proved that no matter who sits in Downing Street, the greatness of Britain endures. And with patriots across the country standing up, raising the colours, and fighting back, the future remains ours to win.
