15. British manufacturer Tiger wins huge contract from German delivery giant Evri
UK manufacturer Tiger has secured a contract for 168 box van trailers from German parcel carrier Evri for operation at its new £60 million Barnsley ‘superhub.’ The trailers will be built at Tiger’s £22 million factory in Winsford, Cheshire. In time to support the opening of the company’s new superhub in South Yorkshire called Colossus, the largest of its kind in Europe, Tiger will supply 168 twin-axle box vans to Evri, the biggest dedicated parcel carrier in the UK and the new name for Hermes… click here

British manufacturer BAE Systems already invests almost £100m in education, skills and early careers activities in the UK annually and currently has nearly 3,300 apprentices and graduates in training across its UK businesses, equivalent to more than nine per cent of its 35,300 strong UK workforce. Community diagnostic centres have delivered more than two million vital tests, checks and scans for patients, with a further 10 centres now approved. 11. UK and Gulf Cooperation Council commit to ‘ambitious, comprehensive and modern’ free trade agreement
The first round of negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement between the United Kingdom and the GCC have taken place virtually. Government analysis shows that, in the long-run, a deal with the GCC is expected to increase trade by at least 16 percent, add at least £1.6 billion a year to the UK economy and contribute an additional £600 million or more to UK workers’ annual wages… click here

UK Atomic Energy Authority and Tokamak Energy have signed a framework agreement to enable closer collaboration on developing spherical tokamaks as a route to commercial fusion energy. 7. MADE IN BRITAIN: MINI Cooper Convertible ‘coming home’ to be built in the UK
MINI has confirmed that production of the next-generation Convertible will switch from the Netherlands to the UK. British drinks companies can raise a glass to news the UK has unlocked export markets worth over £100 million after smashing trade barriers that deterred alcohol sales to multiple countries across South America and Africa. British marque Bentley Motors has announced applications are open for a new intake of 117 trainees in 2023 to join its 4000-strong workforce in Crewe. The future talent will join the world’s most sought-after luxury car brand, based at Bentley’s carbon-neutral ‘Dream Factory’ in Crewe. 4. Countdown is on for UK to become first country in Europe to launch satellites into orbit
The countdown to the first satellite launch from UK soil is on, with Virgin Orbit’s carrier aircraft, ground support equipment, and rocket set to arrive in Cornwall this week. 3. Prime Minister Liz Truss meets England’s victorious Lionesses
Prime Minister Liz Truss met England’s victorious Lionesses this week and watched them train in south-west London. The Lionesses became UEFA European Champions when Sarina Wiegman’s side beat Germany 2-1 in extra-time on a historic evening at Wembley in July. 2. Boris gets standing ovation at Insurance Leadership Forum in the US
Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson was given a standing ovation after he made his first appearance on the American corporate speaking circuit this week. The former PM gave a 30-minute speech at the Insurance Leadership Forum in Colorado Springs on Tuesday morning. Delegates confirmed Mr Johnson gave a “memorable” and “impressive” speech about “Brexit, British support for Ukraine and his previous climate scepticism” after which the former British PM received a standing ovation from the cheering room of delegates… click here
1. UK will be fastest growing major economy in 2022 says International Monetary Fund
UK economic growth will outpace the rest of the G7 in 2022, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said. It compares with growth forecasts this year of 1.6 percent for the US, 1.7 percent for Japan, 1.5 percent for Germany, 2.5 percent for France and 3.3 percent for Canada. The UK has the highest growth at 3.6 percent. Strong momentum at the end of 2021 means UK economic growth will outpace the rest of the G7 this year… click here
