  1. I’ve taken the poll but I won’t be able to take part in the vote as I resigned my membership after 40 years when Sunak was crowned Leader, against the express wishes of the membership.

If the Party returns to Conservatism then I will return. Otherwise, ReformUK it is!

        • Yes I agree about Mrs Thatcher and whilst I voted for Boris to be Leader I always suspected he was a closet socialist & EU remainder but he read the mood correctly on BREXIT to further his career. Liz Truss would have been our new Mrs Thatcher but was disposed of by the UK’s WEF establishment with the full assistance of the Bank of England in order to install their stooge Rishi Sunak.

    • Hi Roland

I’m hanging in there as long as Boris Johnson also remains a member and I hope can be pursuaded to enter parliament again. For that reason it might be worth taking up membership again.

      • I agree. Boris is the only one who has the charisma and character to win.
The media brought about his unfair downfall, not the voters.

        • All Moggie could say about him was that he had character and charisma. That’s extremely important. But a leader has to have honesty and integrity too.

He did not fall from power because of a media campaign. He fell from power because the Conservative MPs had moved on and put Partygate behind them when he lied to MPs about his dealings with Pincher and decided that was enough.

      • Hi Peter
Right now they don’t deserve me. I’ll see who the Parliamentary Party put forward to members, and ultimately who becomes leader. Only then will I be able to start the process of reconciliation

    • Same here. Couldn’t support the Coronation of Sunak. Total stitch-up. What else do members get other than the chance to choose a new leader? Take that away and we have nothing. If you think so little of members, you don’t get my cash.

    • Me too. Sunac lost the government by his inability to read the true conservative feeling. 1. Don’t stab anyone in the back.
      2. Don’t be rude to the heroes who fought the Germans and won.
He did both and I resigned from the local party committee the day after he knifed Boris
      ,

    • Can you tell me what you mean by ‘returns to conservatism’ please?

Also the MPs removed Boris because he lied. Remember?

Then it chose two turkeys and we voted for them. If Truss – who says she is a Thatcherite but isn’t – had not done that stupid budget she would still have been PM and we would have got another five year term

    • I voted for Rishi and I’m a member. He was solid. The issue is that every time we elect a leader half the party tries to knife them. Rules must be changed to stop this. Otherwise we will permanently be thought of as playground clowns. The last 10 years of infighting has been an embarrassment f

  2. The “centre ground” of politics has moved left. Therefore, it is completely out of touch with what Conservative voters want. Hence the “far right” slur if any opinion to the right of Jeremy Corbyn gets expressed, when a few years ago these would have been perfectly sensible opinions. A sensible immigration policy being one of them.
So we don’t need another wet centrist leader because you’ll get a repeat of the last election in 5 years’ time.

  3. I was devastated when I heard Penny Mordant had lost her seat. She would have made an excellent leader of the party and future PM. In the event that Suella Braverman wins I will definitely resign my membership of the party.

  4. Would prefer Boris but without net zero energy. Whoever wins MUST SORT out the CIVIL SERVANTS. They bullied and resisted Pritti and Suella and complained about Dominic! No conservatism without dealing with this. Eve

  5. I’m still a member despite disagreeing with Sunak s approach and ignoring national uproar over mass immigration. Reform listens to people which our party needs to do. We do not want to become a middle east offshoot and all the economic migrants emanate from there. The UK is full and can’t sustain current policy.
Fix it or Conservative Party will die .

  6. I have completed the poll but I don’t feel any notice will be taken of it. The MPs will.go there own sweet way as usual. That is why we and tje Country is in this mess. Listen to.tje membership, the majority of whom want Boris back.

  7. Who ever our new Conservative Leader needs to be a tough character.
He must be fully supported by his team without constant changes.
Bedsides all the problems on going in UK that person may need to make very tough
decisions concerning any threats from Russia,China and Iran.
James Cleverly has a military background and has shown a polite but firm stance
whilst being in Government. He is somebody who would represent our Country and
    be respected by our Leaders.

      • That happens in thousands of cases. Like mine. Its not personal. Nor dismissive of you and your concerns. He’d never do anything if he dealt personally with all his post.

  8. Boris or Penny Mordant would have been my choice if they were still MP’s. The party threw away this election by calling it early and I’m very angry about it.

    • The only saving grace is that he’ll go down in history as the worst con PM. He thinks he is a lot cleverer than he actually is. And like u im so angry he called it early. I’m hanging on to see how this plays out otherwise I’m off to Reform. Cannot endure another wet centrist. So angry that we never sorted out immigration. Country is so so broken and we wasted such an opportunity to fix it.

  9. we now need aright of centre candidate whomoves away from central rule and beaucracy
Loks at freed om of the people and encourages self discipline and responsibility

  10. Labour got in with a third of the vote & 20% of those eligible to vote. Labour’s policies don’t represent the centre ground if the centre ground is defined as what most people think. They won because of a divided opposition. Unless the Conservatives unite around centre right policies and have a dynamic leader who can reach out to younger people then voters will go to Reform. From my experience locally much of the membership is over 80 or even 90 – fine but you need a membership that is more representative of society as a whole.

    • JRM the voice of reason. personally i like Iain Duncan Smith too. out of the candidates listed i only see the ladies being strong leaders though it seems Parliament dont like strong ladies though unless you’re in the Labour Party that is

  11. The new leader has to return us to traditional Conservative values and the members must be listened to this time.

The parliamentary party forced the last leader upon us and subsequently lost, members, votes, direction, by-election after by-election and ultimately the general election.

  12. Ive don’t the vote, but gave my Membership up just recently.
No one is listening. The Party is no longer Conservative.
Brexit is not fully done, far too many laws remain.
Those in charge did not carry out the mandate.
    They did not cut migration.
The raised taxes to their highest levels for many years.
    They didn’t cut waste.
They did not reform a wasteful NHS.
They colluded to oust Boris Johnson.
Most of those responsible for the state of a once proud Party were planning to leave the Party.
Tugenhadt claims people want less spending on defence? He is wrong.
And I’ve never before seen such a lack lustre, badly run election campaign.

  13. The 1922 Committee are again setting rules for the Leadership election, excluding Members until the last 2 candidates remain. Hardly a democratic process and seemingly showing the Party as being inclusive toward the Members. Once again the Membership will have to be accepting of the 2 Candidates preferred by CCHQ and the1922 Committee. This is not the way back to open and fair Conservatism.

    • I agree exactly. 1922 committee up to their old tricks that produced Sunak the coause of me and so many others resigning our membership and voting reform.

To paraphrase Sabatini – if you dont learn from the past then you are sunk buster.

      • What caused Sunak was Truss economic policy and how she deliberately avoided having any scrutiny. If she hadn’t been stupid she would still have been PM on a new five year term

  14. Listen to your membership or we will cross over to Reform.
Do not mess this one up like the last members vote, essentially overruled we were.

    • Did you vote for Truss? Then you voted for her stupid budget. If she hadn’t done that she would still be in power. Then we found out we had voted for two turkeys not just one!

  15. Kemi Badenoch is the only potential candidate with any real chance of restoring what used to be the Conservative Party. Sunak was wishy washy and Truss, well, completely unable to speak publicly. The UK requires powerful leadership and principled Government.

    • Sunak failed but how was he wishy washy?

I agree with what you say we need. Kemi Badenoch is not the person to get back voters from Reform Labour and Lib Dems.

Since they all voted for us in 2019 those policies must have been attractive.

Failure to explain is a problem. Its a big problem of Badenoch. For example she was in charge of the bill removing EU Acts from our books. Moggie had the bright idea (?) of a sunset clause, which meant that no EU law identified would be revoked without knowing what it was. So we would have NO LAW in those areas

Fortunately Kemi dropped that. She then had 1000 EU laws to revoke but only revoked 500. Neither she nor anyone else told us WHY. Government non communication as usual

The reason was that the Law Society and all the Chambers of Commerce said she should only do the 500 because if she did the remainder it would cause uncertainty and trade problems and investment problems. So she did the right thing but didn’t explain

I regret I don’t agree about her being the right candidate

  16. There is only one choice to regain the Conservative centre-right ground and move us back to where we should be as a Party and that is Kemi Badenoch. She was the perfect choice instead of Sunak but the liberal MPs that infiltrated the Conservative party chose him instead.

I believe there will be a big influx of past members if she becomes leader. It took Maggie five years to restore faith in the party, back in the 70s, Kemi would have a similar job to be done and she would wipe the floor with Starmer at PMQs whilst she was doing it. Labour would not know how to deal with her and it would also expose their hypocrisy.

    • Whilst Badenoch comes over better face to face (only one experience) she is arrogant, and someone who is a marmite personality. Which is why I don’t want her or Braverman.

I thought at one time that having Braverman as Home Sec was a good thing and we needed an attack dog. However when she started behaving and speaking like a back bencher instead of being a minister she needed to leave.

She Trump and Farage have at least three things in common: they enjoy conflict, they seek it, and they promote it.

I see there is a harking back to Maggie and earlier times. Whilst it is good to remember the past and learn from it we need to see the here and now and what will be the likely future in 5 years time.

  17. You need a strong leader and an honest one. Both Ladies are strong determined women who with respect from every male mp could be great. Its about whats best for the people of all the UK not party. Services and value for our money out taxes.

  18. Your 1922 committee your back benches with those behind the scenes have destroyed the party, taking away the members vote was the last straw for me, after 55-years a Tory I left and went to The Reform Party, more conservative than the Conservatives, As Mr Farage has stated “This is a Remainer Parliament, a Rejoin Parliament” UNTIL the Conservative party listens to the members/public and leaves the ECHR and really becomes a sovereign country you will NEVER be reelected.
There you are I have said it.

    • I agree 100% with you, I have refused to rejoin the “Conservative Party” until they have a full purge of the majority of their MPs who are Socialists and clearly in the wrong Political Party. If I had a vote for the replacement Conservative Party leader my 1st choice would be Suella Braverman and my 2nd choice would be James Cleverly. The UK needs to leave the ECHR and have a clean no strings attached break from the dictatorial EU.

  19. No rules from the 1922 Committee are acceptable, members should be able to choose from ANY member wishing to participate in the election rather than having a preamble of votes cast by the preponderance of left wingers left after the debacle of last month, Chris Bullivant.

  20. As long as Net Migration is diminished by at least half then whoever will actually do this I would back willingly. Personally I want Boris back, yes he may have made mistakes but he is human like the rest of us. At least with Boris back we will have a very good chance of winning the next election! I could never ever back anyone who thinks Rishi Sunak did a good job!!! “NOT”!!! Never trust a “SNAKE IN THE GRASS” Important points, cut migration considerably, take back our borders and laws, and sort out the shambolic NHS!!!

  21. The 1922 has done much harm to the party, leaders contest should be a page of statement by each candidate and a ballot paper or envelope and the vote of the membership not the pcc.

    • You could have a hundred and fifty people.

Also the MPs have to work with that person day after day

Also how much support would be necessary to stand

How would it work if the person was not an MP? (I’d like someone who was not an MP now)

  22. MPs should not be allowed to elect our new leader. After the last debacle of forcing Sunak on us. He must be one of the worse PM i have ever seen in my 72 yrs. Disgusted Member.

  23. Completely out of touch with Conservative Voters. After 60 years of Voting Conservatives, until Penny Mordaunt has a seat, and made party leader, making Conservatives centre of right. Back to basis is needed, not tax after tax, Growth, if Margaret Thatcher can do it so can next leader?
Remember, we havent abandoned Conservatives, you abandoned us. My Wife and I didnt vote in 2024,

  24. I have always supported the Conservative Party even though I wasn’t a member.
I just want the leader to give a sense of direction and the conservative values that we used to have, as we did with Mrs Thatcher.

  25. I hope who ever gets to be leader is of strong conviction and a true right wing Conservative
    Enough of this nanny state

  26. If the new leader must derliver policy and Conservative politics the party is finished The party has lost trust in the voters and there core vote. Sunak as been a complete disaster well be honest the last 14 years have been completed disaster not one policy or any Row back on left policy which has pushed the Tory party in Parliament in to dead ends and cul-de-sac unable to deliver new policies because of LABOUR laws and old policy and made promises but never kept them Sunak said he would fracking for gas and then row back same on taxation
The Tory Party as failed on taxation / economy law and order/ crime, arm forces, borders and benefits
and are obsessed with big government the Conservative party as become like the social democratic party . UK is in big trouble financially and economically but no want to talk about this but instead just want to keep spending more money Politics of the insanity
There need to real cuts in budget and give people self determination and free up business
But must not make the same mistakes Cameron and Osborne which was to cut and cut but keep spending on nonsense 1 example hug a hoodie austerity is playing out in today’s economy they say a policy thats 10 years to play out as public services have collapsed
THE LEADER MUST BE STRONG DOMINANT AND A CONVICTION POLITICIAN
NO WETS. NO ONE NATION. NO LIBERAL CONSERVATISM
THAT AS FAILED THE PARTY AND THE UK

  27. We need someone with charisma, and the ability to take on Labour.. and tells them exactly how it is – no mealy mouthed comments from her.. Kemi is the only one that stands out from the crowd, has a blinding personality and would be a fantastic leader of the Conservatives. Don’t forget many vote for the leader, not the party, so a standout person is important

  28. Suella Braverman would be my choice now!
    H. Harman should never have been allowed to chair the committee which made judgement over Boris for
Minor indiscretions. Covid created unprecedented times! Indeed he nearly died himself, and his indiscretions are minor when you look at our big NATO ally across the pond!!?

  29. with great reluctance I resigned as a member as the Conservative Party no longer represents my views,we all know what needs to be done to get the nhs back to where it should be to get schools back on track and lastly to treat hard working families and pensions with the respect they deserve but the conservative party seems to have forgotten this ,

  30. For starters I think the number 1 priority should be to get rid of Dougie Smith, then oust M Gove from the Conservative party.
Then you should look at the 1922 committee and see if any of the members of the said committee have true Conservative values, once (if they tell the truth, which is debateable) you would then be in a position to get rid of all the members who have left leaning values

  31. I want a leader who has the balls to give Starmer a hard time, not someone who’s always looking over their shoulder and worrying about our “standing in the world”. Someone who listens to the British people (it’s not hard) and removes us from the ECHR and all other left wing woke organisations.

  32. some excellent comments posted above. until the Conservatives go back to being conservatives and listen to the members and the public nothing will change. the MPs and 1922 committee are completely out of touch. when you ousted Boris you were finished. after 46 years of voting tory im a Reform voter. They are the only ones listening and the only ones speaking up. They are not afraid to put their heads above the parapet and say what everybody else is thinking. All we can hope is Labour implode and start infighting and Reform hold them to account on everything but especially immigration law enforcement woke policies and the whole net zero nonsense. Conservatives did and are still doing nothing to hold them to account.

  33. As long I get a vote this time unlike the rishi take over.

At the moment I have a membership for the free telegraph

  34. I renewed my membership in June for the sole purpose of getting a vote in the leadership election in the sincere hope that an actual Conservative might be elected. Having read Tugendhat’s opening shot in todays Telegraph I realise I probably have wasted my money. I cannot think of anyone less capable of leading the Party than this closet Libdem.
The fact that Dougie Smith still struts the corridors of CCHQ and is manipulating the entire contest to ensure his chosen candidates get to the final 2 just speaks volumes for the state of the Party in 2024. If you haven’t read the comments on Tugendhat’s pitch in today’s Telegraph its would be worth spending 15minutes doing so. i didn’t count a single backer amongst them.

  35. To suggest that members elect the new leader is stretching the truth somewhat. The reality is that MPs will choose by narrowing those who put their names forward to the ones they might want, leaving the members with a choice between two people they might not wish to be leader, as happened with Sunak and Truss neither of whom i felt able to vote for. A more fair system would be to narrow down to six and then let members vote for one of them.

    • I agree, using an optional transferable vote, to vote for the last 6 or so. If no MP gets 50% or more; restart the process until one MP gets 50% or more. No more sloppy, hasty actions by MP’s. Selecting the chief executive of our Party, should be a 3-6 month process.

  36. As nearly all above have said, if the MPs are going to choose the 2 candidates to put to the members, we will almost certainly have more of the same, i.e. a left of true centre, wishy washy, non-conservative Blair type ‘Leader’.
It has to be one of the Ladies and hopefully Suella or Priti, otherwise I fear that the party is finished and will become the 3rd or even 4th party in British politics.
So this is the last chance for me – One of the strong Ladies, or my full commitment and support goes to Reform, who are clearly far more Conservative than the current Conservative party.

    • I feel the same. In fact I have written to the Chairman today saying exactly that. Members should be the ones to whittle down the candidates, not MPs

    • I am with you on this. Totally agree on Priti and Suella. Not namby pamby and strong enough to dominate the snivel serpents. But I’ll bet they don’t get a chance to get to the party. The parliamentary lot wil screw it up again.

    • Far more conservative.

Can you please tell me how they are conservative?

Its a joke that many are complaining they get a vote for the final two. There’s NO vote for anybody for anything in Reform. Which conservative policies did they have that the Conservative Party didn’t?

  37. The only reason that the Conservative Party and former Conservative Government is in this position is the group of MPs who wanted to replace Boris with the Snake which they totally missed the point that the majority they had was down to one person that the public wanted and that was Boris

They have felt the wrath of the people who are disgusted with the actions of the few who have destroyed it for the majority

Regardless of the outcome of the poll and whoever gets elected the people won’t forget or forgive them

Bring back Boris or the Conservative Party will never be a force again

  38. All my voting life I have been a Tory voter. I am now 81 and to be disenfranchised twice by my own party is sickening. And then have two people foisted on us that none of us wanted especially Sunak shows a frightening level of control. This is very unhealthy. Boris need not have lied, he could have easily said “I had a drink with associates that I had been working with all day”. Slap on the wrist and get on with business. Shows a lack of judgement. This is the Tory’s party last chance to get it right. Let us choose who we want and the first nominee past the post is the candidate. Stop treating us like idiots. The 22 Committee needs disbanding, but turkeys aren’t going to vote for Christmas. The Tory party have lost an excellent MP in my local man, Adam Holloway. Listen to us now or stay in the wilderness for a very long time.

    • I have to point out that Boris was NOT sacked for Partygate. It was because, after the MPs moved on that he lied AGAIN in the Pincher matter. The lack of judgment was Boris’.

Also Boris had over two and a half years to implement the Manifesto and apart from actually giving notice to leave the EU he did almost nothing. He and Patel managed to set the immigration criteria which caused huge influxes and he and Patel set up the Rwanda policy

As regards choosing who we want, I agree with that. The person I want isn’t on the ballot. The problem is that the person has to be an MP to be PM and leader of the opposition. So the MPs have to be able to get on with and be prepared to be led by the elected leader.

  39. I would prefer Boris Johnson and if not Penny Mordant it is a shame neither are MP’s. I live in hope of their return, Boris as PM and Penny as Deputy.

  40. I cancelled my membership when they removed Boris, I re-joined the day the results came in with the hope to get to vote for the next leader and got in just before the bell.

These candidates are not going to be Prime Minister in 5 years time, not one of them.

We need a caretaker leader for a couple of years and then convince Boris to come back via a safe seat.

Otherwise, it’s 10-15 years in the doldrums for anyone right of centre.

  41. I let my membership lapse when Boris was overthrown contrary to wishes of the members. Following Rishi’s resignation I rejoined and will vote for Kemi. If the MPs insist on another wet left wing leader who won’t tackle the problems facing the country I will be gone forever.

  42. I would like a written Constitution to be our Leader. This would prevent Liberal democrats like David Cameron infiltrating our Party and turning it into a Centre Left Party. It would also prevent weak leaders like Theresa May and Rishi Sunak from sitting on their hands, afraid to make a decision. If we have a written Constitution, then who ever is the Leader, will be forced to implement Conservative values enshrined in our Constitution. If they do not, then it will be a signal for our MP’s and Members to replace them.

    • You and people like you forget that without David Cameron (I wasn’t a great fan) we would not have been in power at all!

The coalition enabled us to get into government. We’d never have got there. It wasn’t a conservative government. How could it be?

Cameron wins an election and people like you say what a bad person he was. What are you talking about?

      • Cameron was a wishy washy Liberal. If he had campaigned as a Thatcherite Conservative, as Blair did, we would have won the 2010 election. The only reason we won the 2015 election is because UKIP forced a vote on the Referendum. Because we promised a Referendum in our 2015 manifesto, we won the 2015 election. Cameron also abolished the ID Cards that Blair introduced so we can determine who is a British Citizen. Cameron also fiddled about with the lunacy of Wind Mills and Solar for the Grid, whilst Blair was pushing for more Nuclear. Cameron also helped topple Gaddafi after Blair normalised friendly relations with Libya, hence the flood of illegals arriving from North Africa. So in essence, Blair had some good Conservative values, whilst Cameron wanted to be PM, just like Rishi Sunak who was also totally useless at the job. If we do not get a true Conservative as Party leader, expect a flood of our Members and Voters to defect to Reform UK.

  43. Suella or Patel are the ones we need, they envision true conservatism who wont compromise their values.

We need figures who can help us work with Reform or win back Reform Voters.

  44. I wrote to my MP at the time everyone was trying to get rid of Boris. I pointed out that both labour and the libdems were desperate to see him gone as they knew they didn’t stand a chance against him at election time – did he take any notice – I bet he has since losing his seat. We should be on our knees begging Boris to come back, it’s the only way to re-energise and rebuild the party. (Yes, I did hold my nose and grit my teeth to vote Conservative – fat lot of good it did with Sunak in charge). We’re now reaping the rewards of immense disloyalty with Starmer in no. 10.

    • We were always going to lose. When I voted in the leadership election I thought it would be a miracle if Labour only had a hundred more seats than us

  45. It was disgraceful of Rishi to ban Lord Frost from standing for Parliament. He would have made an excellent leader. But I believe he could stand from the Lords, or is that only in Government?

  46. I agree with Roland’s comment. I also switched to Reform when Sunak was appointed PM without consulting the membership.

  47. Thank heavens we’ve got rid of the Tino’s & Bradeys motley gang get back to conservatism & I’ll rejoin (ranout 06/07/24 memb no. xxxxxxxxx)! The members must elect the leader NOT the champagne socialist Tory’s. Two leaders railroaded by Tino’s because they didn’t want conservative policies & a cuckoo PM installed by the Tino’s with the charisma of a wooden puppet.
Get back to true conservatism so we can eject this bunch of lunatic clowns out No.10

  48. Suella and Kemi have strong voices and given a third choice it would have been Priti. She is good and gentle but at this stage we need a strong voice. Penny had a great unique way of delivering her speeches and she would have been on my list.

  49. The party went downhill after William Hague reformed central Office, bringing in young liberal lefties and sidelining constituencies.
Under Cameron, these central Office children parachuted in a large number of closet Lib Dems to constituencies.
The centre ground as moved further and further left, the one nation lefties have followed. We need a traditional centre right party with constituencies selecting prospective candidates and a right wing agenda. That is what will win votes and get us back in power. Far right is just a slur, populous is just a slur. The party needs to man up and have some conviction, people are crying out for decisive action on so many things, not the wishy washy, it’s all too difficult crying in their beer weakness of the wet one nationers.

  50. Suella Braverman is the only one who has talked any sense and was trying to sort out issues for our country and it’s people apart from Boris. The day you all became backstabbers against Boris was the day you lost all respect especially when you brought in Sunak against the members wishes. You are quick enough to ask us for donations but fail to respect the people who are keeping you in the little power you have left. Tell me why, we, the members have to pick from the chosen 2 you and your parliamentary team have picked. We as paying members should have the choice from all of them. Too much corruption going on behind closed doors which was evident when you ousted Boris and replaced him with that useless waste of space who lost you the election and made the Conservative party a laughing stock. I have reluctantly kept my membership on the hopes that Boris would come back, but depending on how the members are treating in this new leadership contest will make me decide wether to keep it or go to Reform. It is thanks to the backstabbers and the unelected prime minister that we have to endure Labour for the foreseeable future. That we will never forgive you for. Boris was and hopefully in the future will be leading our country again. That is, if we still have a country we can call our own.

  51. I have a vision of Suella Braverman playing the part of Margaret Thatcher, Lee Anderson as Norman Tebbit and Lord Frost as William Whitelaw.
Sadly this won’t happen, the wet bleeding heart liberals running the party have seen to that.
How can I vote for that lot.
Disraeli Peel Churchill and Thatcher must be turning in their graves.

  52. I predict the Parliamentary party will give us Tugenhat and Badenoch. But I feel that who ever is chosen will not lead the party into the next election as the collective suicide pact of the Parliamentary party is not yet complete.

Unless the party moves back to the right of centre and gets it collective heads out of the green clouds it is moving towards extinction.

  53. I loathed Sunak. Foisted on us by the men in grey suits. Never going to win an election. Too rich, too out of touch , too bloody liberal. Clean out the stables and get rid of all the secret Liberals . Kemi’s the one . No messing , clever, quick witted and actually a Tory.

  54. If the party had not become so centrist they would not have lost the election. This is undeniable. So if I was still a member (I left when Rishi Sunak was anointed) my vote would be for Suella Braverman or Priti Patel.

  55. Agree with Evelyn Bloomfield and all others supporting Boris and Penny. The only reason I have kept my Party membership is to be able to cast a vote for the new leader. I am 79 and have always been a Conservative supporter and voter. For the very first time I did not vote Conservative this time – which broke my heart! By the way, I do like Rees-Mogg – he is a superb speaker. Good luck us.

  56. I know what I don’t want at the moment and that is any one nation conservative that are fundamentally Liberal Democrat’s and have caused the problems in the Conservative Party by not being conservative. At the moment I would choose all the Girls and Jenrick
